Description
Dulaglutide, also known as Trulicity, is a hypoglycemic drug of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist type, suitable for adult patients with type 2 diabetes for blood sugar control. It was approved for marketing by the US Food and Drug Administration on September 18, 2014. It needs to be injected subcutaneously once a week and should be combined with diet and exercise therapy.
This drug was evaluated for safety and efficacy in 6 clinical trials involving 3,342 patients with type 2 diabetes. The AWARD-8 trial confirmed that after 24 weeks of combined treatment with sulfonylurea drugs, the HbA1c decreased by -1.38% from the baseline, and 55.3% of the patients reached the HbA1c% target. The fasting blood glucose decreased by -1.70 mmol/L. The main adverse events were gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea (10.5%) and diarrhea (8.4%), with a low blood sugar incidence of 11.3% and no severe cases.
